Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer glance over both the Sunrise and Sunset regional playoff brackets. Will there be any surprises or teams other than Bishop Gorman, Canyon Springs and Foothill representing Southern Nevada next week in Reno?

Gerard Harden and Spencer Mathis each scored 18 points today for the Valley High basketball team in a 83-56 victory against host Coronado in the Sunrise Regional quarterfinals.

Valley, the No. 3 seed for the Northeast League, also received double-digit scoring from Shea Garland (14 points) and Cameron Burton (12).

“We played great team ball,” Valley coach Brian Farnsworth said. “Our intensity and effort was unmatched out there. Our guys were determined. They are on a mission.”

Valley led by double-digits for the final three quarters, advancing to face top-seeded Canyon Springs in Thursday’s semifinals. Canyon Springs is the defending Sunrise championship and went undefeated in Northeast games, including rallying for a near 20-point deficit to beat Valley.
