Woman charged in overdose death of Google exec

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — An alleged high-end prostitute accused of injecting heroin into a Google executive and leaving him to die when he overdosed has been charged with manslaughter.

Twenty-six-year-old Alex Tichelman appeared in court in Santa Cruz on Wednesday morning in handcuffs and a red jumpsuit. She is also charged with administering heroin and possessing heroin.

She did not enter a plea and was appointed a public defender, Diana August, who did not immediately return a phone message.

Police say Tichelman did not call 911 or provide first aid as the 51-year-old man suffered medical complications and went unconscious during the November overdose aboard his yacht in Santa Cruz.

Assistant District Attorney Rafael Vazquez said authorities are still investigating the case and may file more serious charges.
