Police: Man killed in apparent shooting near downtown

Metro Police are investigating a man found dead near downtown in an apparent shooting Wednesday night.

Police responded about 10:50 p.m. to the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Fremont Street and found a man on the ground dead from an apparent gunshot wound, officials said.

Investigators determined the man was approached by three males about 20 years old before he was shot, police said. They fled the scene before police arrived.

No suspects have been identified. The death was the 78th homicide investigated by Metro this year.
