Exotic cat on the loose spooks neighbors in Las Vegas

Las Vegas residents say they thought a leopard was on the loose when an exotic pet cat started roaming the neighborhood.

Police say they were called to the northwest part of the valley a little before 9 a.m. Wednesday by someone who said they saw a cat the size of a pit bull in a backyard.

Witness Audrey Peterson told KLAS-TV she initially thought it was a leopard because of its spots.

The cat was captured by animal control officers about 11 a.m. City spokeswoman Diana Paul says no citations have been issued and the incident is under investigation.

The feline's owner described the animal as a 20-pound Savannah cat named Enzuri. The breed is a hybrid between a domestic cat and an African serval.
