Man flees, barricades himself in home after traffic stop

A man was in police custody today after running from Metro Police during a traffic stop and briefly barricading himself in a nearby home, authorities said.

The incident unfolded after an armed robbery was reported just before 5 a.m. in the 7600 block of Rolling View Drive, near Ann Road and U.S. 95, Metro officer Laura Meltzer said.

Patrol officers located a vehicle they suspected might have been involved in the robbery about four miles away and pulled it over, she said.

Multiple people remained in the car, but one man got out and ran into a nearby home in the 8600 block of Trickling Spring Court, Meltzer said. Several people in the home got out, and the man eventually surrendered to police about 8:25 a.m.

The home was believed to be the man’s residence or a place with which he was familiar, Meltzer said.

The man and the people inside the vehicle during the traffic stop were taken into custody for questioning, she said. It was unknown if they were involved with the robbery, Meltzer said.
