Fans attending this year’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open might want to bring their swimsuits to the golf course.

The mid-October tournament at TPC Summerlin will be the first on the PGA Tour to feature public pools as part of the fan experience, the tournament announced today.

Six pools will be added to viewing areas along the course, including two in the Zappos.Com Fan Experience between hole Nos. 17 and 18 that will be free. Tournament officials credit Zappos, the downtown-based shoe and apparel retailer, with the idea.

“We wanted to really take a page from the energy in Las Vegas and elevate the fans’ experience inside our tournament,” tournament Director Adam Sperling said in a statement.

The other four pools will be added to The Hill, the tournament’s hospitality venue overlooking hole Nos. 16-18. The Hyde Bellagio nightclub will join the tournament as VIP host.

Hyde on the Hill will offer daylife experiences similar to those at pool parties on the Strip, with cabanas available for purchase, DJs, fancy cocktails and a high-end food menu.

The tournament, which returns to Las Vegas for the 32nd straight year, is Oct. 13-19. This is the second year it will be part of the FedExCup, and will feature 144 golfers playing for their share of a $6.2 million purse.
