A new woodshop and art-supply store will help fill the valley’s creative needs, while a new juicery and a bakery will help serve the valley’s palate. Also, Fremont Street says goodbye to one of its oldest casinos.

Blick Art Materials

The nation’s largest and oldest provider of art supplies finds a new home in Las Vegas with a grand opening planned for Thursday at 6300 W. Charleston Blvd. Blick Art Materials, an Illinois-based store, will offer products for artists from children to professionals. Aiming for competitive prices and superior customer service, Blick says it strives to make itself the only stop necessary for art enthusiasts. The store will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Pressed Juicery

Fresh juice is available at the Aria with the Aug. 20 opening of Pressed Juicery. Customers can choose from cold-pressed concoctions such as water, lemon and mint or almond, dates, sea salt and vanilla bean.

Pressed Juicery is on the Aria Second Level Promenade, 3730 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The Cupcakery

A third location of the cupcake-centric bakery has opened at 1050 E. Flamingo Road. Serving the Strip, UNLV and central Las Vegas, the 1,200-square-foot bakery features cafe seating, free Wi-Fi for customers and a wide selection of cupcakes including the Southern Belle — a moist, red velvet cake covered with cream cheese frosting. The store also will accept orders for custom cakes.

The Cupcakery is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Community Tool Chest

The community woodshop opened this summer at 3655 E. Patrick Lane, Suite 200. The 6,600-square-foot business, complete with a warehouse and office and classroom space, offers professional woodworking tools and equipment.

In addition to offering classes such as woodworking and stained glass, the woodshop allows residents access to build and work on projects.

Hours are noon to 10 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Las Vegas Club

One of the city’s oldest casinos — which had a hotel that closed in 2013 — shut its doors last week after being sold to Derek and Greg Stevens, owners of The D Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Club opened in 1930 on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.
