Two inmates die at Nevada correctional facilities

Updated Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 | 3:47 p.m.

Two Nevada state prison inmates housed at different facilities have died.

A 63-year-old inmate from the Southern Desert Correctional Center in Indian Springs died Saturday afternoon, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Inmate Spencer Anderson died around 3:15 p.m., according to officials.

He was committed from Clark County on Dec. 12, 1995, and was serving 10 to 40 years for habitual crime. Court records indicate Anderson had felony convictions including for conspiring to aid and abet a robbery.

Anderson's death occurred hours after 53-year-old Anthony Daniels died around 6:50 a.m. at a medical facility inside Northern Nevada Corrections Center in Carson City.

Officials say Daniels had been serving two to six years for coercion since March 30.

Coroners are planning autopsies on both bodies to determine the cause of death.
