6 displaced in North Las Vegas house fire; cause unknown

Residents escaped a house fire that displaced five adults and one child this afternoon in North Las Vegas, according to the city's fire department.

Crews were called about 1:15 p.m. to a one-story, single-family home in the 600 block of Carlitos Avenue, near West Washburn Road and Camino Al Norte, Capt. Cedric Williams said. No injuries were reported.

Also according to Williams:

Investigators think the fire might have started on the back patio before spreading to the house.

The fire spread to the kitchen, living room and attic, and firefighters were able to get it under control within about 10 minutes.

Because of the large amount of insulation in the attic, crews remained on scene to ensure the fire was entirely out.

The house is uninhabitable, and the Red Cross of Southern Nevada is assisting the displaced residents.

A damage estimate and the exact cause of the fire remain under investigation.
