5 people displaced, pets rescued in Henderson house fire

Fire

Five people have been displaced and at least two pets were rescued after a fire broke out this afternoon at a Henderson house, according to a city fire department spokeswoman.

Dispatchers received multiple calls about 4:15 p.m. of a fire in the 200 block of Rochelle Drive, near Pacific Avenue and Van Wagenen Street, Henderson Fire Department spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

No injuries were reported.

It appears the fire began in the chimney and moved to the attic, Richards said. Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames, she said.

At least one adult was home when the fire broke out, and that person made it out safely, she said.

Three adults and two children were displaced, and at least one dog and one cat were rescued from the home, Richards said.

A damage estimate and the exact cause of the fire remain under investigation, she said.
