Nevada agency to host construction job fair at Cashman Center

Looking for a job in construction? The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and Nevada JobConnect will host a free construction job fair for both employers and prospective employees on March 3 at Cashman Center.

The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is designed to connect skilled tradespeople with industry employers who are actively hiring, and comes in part as a response to a shortage of experienced construction workers in the state in the wake of the economic downturn, said DETR Director Don Soderberg.

Nearly 30 construction industry employers are scheduled to be on-site to provide apprenticeship information and host interviews during the event, and more may be added. Candidates should arrive with an updated resume and prepared for interviews. Interested employers may apply to host a booth free of charge by contacting Mae Worthey [email protected] or calling (702) 486-7991.

Nevada’s construction industry lost close to 100,000 jobs during the recession, making it the hardest hit sector in the state. However, the industry has shown signs of recovery in recent years, with an estimated 6,700 jobs added in 2014 and another 7,700 projected for 2015.

More information about the job fair can be found at nvdetr.org.
