Person in custody after domestic disturbance, standoff

Updated Friday, July 24, 2015 | 3:09 p.m.

A domestic disturbance led to a five-hour standoff in the northwest valley this morning, Metro Police said.

Officers responded about 2:05 a.m. to a house in the 5200 block of Rebecca Road, near North Rainbow Boulevard and West Ann Road, where a female reported there was a male with a gun and that she needed help, police said.

At some point, the female told police the male left, but police determined he was still there and attempted to speak with both individuals, Officer Michael Rodriguez said.

Metro’s SWAT team was called to assist after the pair did not come out of the house, police said.

The male was taken into custody about 7:20 a.m. on counts of domestic battery, coercion with force and resisting a public officer with a firearm, police said.
