Cardboard piles catch fire outside northeast valley warehouse

Piles of baled cardboard caught fire outside of a northeast valley warehouse Monday night, causing about $30,000 damage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Dispatchers received multiple calls about 7 p.m. reporting a fire at the building near Alexander Road and Lamb Boulevard, the fire department said.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters who arrived on scene saw heavy flames coming from the cardboard that had caught fire in the back lot, and the fire was extending to the building, the department said.

Metro Police, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and the North Las Vegas Fire Department responded to the location, and a total of 47 firefighters worked at the scene, fire officials said.

The fire was stopped before it could gut the building, fire officials said.
