A man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon after a verbal altercation at an apartment complex near the Boulevard mall, according to Metro Police.
Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of East Katie Avenue at 3:49 p.m. to investigate a report of a possible gunshot and a man down. Arriving officers located a man on the ground near the office of the complex. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital's Trauma Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Metro investigators indicated that the victim was near a vehicle in the south parking lot when an altercation ensued between the vehicle's driver and the victim. The driver then exited the vehicle and reportedly fired one round at the victim, who ran a short distance toward the complex office and then collapsed, police said.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male adult driving a black or dark gray sports car with tinted windows.
