Passenger killed, driver arrested after SUV crashes into parked truck

A motorist was arrested early today after leaving the scene of a fatal crash in which a sport utility vehicle hit a parked flatbed truck, killing a passenger in the SUV, according to North Las Vegas Police.
The wreck happened about 1 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Brooks Avenue, near Martin Luther King Boulevard and West Cheyenne Avenue. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police department spokesman Steve Wiese said.
No one was in the parked truck.
Police located and arrested the SUV driver at North Vista Hospital, which is not far from where the crash occurred, Wiese said. He wasn’t badly hurt.
The man had not yet been booked, police said.
