Former Nevada Gov. Bob List is endorsing Marco Rubio for president after the first candidate he backed dropped out of the race.

List announced Sunday that he would support the Republican senator from Florida, calling Rubio a "generational leader" whose economic plan would create jobs in Nevada and around the country.

List was governor of Nevada from 1979 to 1983, and also served as Nevada's attorney general for two terms. He served as the Nevada state chairman for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker until Walker dropped out of the presidential race two weeks ago.

Rubio's Nevada campaign chairman is Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison, who said List's relationships and deep roots in Nevada will be a powerful asset.

Rubio is campaigning in the Las Vegas area Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
