Helicopter crashes near Searchlight

Updated Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 | 4:22 p.m.

A helicopter crashed near Searchlight this afternoon, according to Metro Police.

The incident occurred around 12:35 p.m. near State Route 164, Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.

The Nevada Highway Patrol, Clark County Fire Department, police officers as well as Flight for Life are on the scene, Goodwin said.

Upon arrival, officers initially found the aircraft but no pilot.

KSNV-TV reports that pilot was located and declined medical treatment, saying he only had a sore back. Goodwin could only confirm that no injuries were reported that required transportation.

According to Goodwin, the privately-owned aircraft was helping gather cattle for the BLM and was running low on fuel when it got caught in a crosswind and was forced to make a hard landing.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
