Motorcyclist in critical condition after Saturday night crash

A 23-year-old motorcyclist is in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a car in the northwestern part of the valley Saturday evening.

According to Metro Police:

About 10:13 p.m., the 20-year-old driver of a 2011 Ford Focus made a left turn at the intersection of Ann Road and Rio Vista Street in front of the oncoming 2002 Yamaha FZS 1000.

The front of the Yamaha struck the right rear of the Ford, forcing the car into a 180-degree clockwise spin.

The rider of the Yamaha was ejected from the motorcycle and slid to a stop in the westbound lanes of Ann Road.

He was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

The driver of the Ford remained on scene and was cooperative with police.

According to witnesses, the Yamaha was traveling at a high rate of speed before the incident, which remains under investigation.
