Coroner IDs teen killed in apartment complex shooting

A 16-year-old who died after a Monday shooting at an apartment complex near Lake Mead Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive has been identified as Las Vegas resident Tiyvone Taylor Mills, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Mills died of a gunshot wound in the back at the Portofino Villas apartments, at 6300 W. Lake Mead Blvd., according to the Coroner's Office.

Police received multiple reports of a shooting about 9:30 p.m. Monday, and when officers arrived, they found Mills on the ground in a complex parking lot, according to a Metro Police news release.

It appears he and another male, believed to be 16 to 20 years old, fought before the shooting, police said.

The suspect then fled on foot with another male of unknown age, police said.

This was the 103rd homicide investigated this year by Metro, police said.
