The Rancho High football team is streaking. This time, in the right direction.

The Rams beat Boulder City 33-6 today for their second straight victory, using three touchdown runs from Robert Howard to start the program’s first winning streak in five years. Until last week, the Rams had lost 30 straight games.

Now, they have a winning record at 2-1, and three straight home games ahead on the schedule.

“It’s a blast, man,” said Tom Pletsch, Rancho’s first-year coach. “The opportunity to take a bunch of kids that needed direction, and them in the right way and watch them mature, it’s special. The kids are buying into what we said.”

Howard had two touchdown runs of more than 50 yards in the first half, and an 8-yard run in the second half. Quarterback Dion Southern added a 5-yard touchdown pass to Donald Bush, and Javion Mickel scored on a 40-yard run.
