Flash flood watch issued for Las Vegas area through Friday

Flash floods could hit Las Vegas over the next two days as monsoon season warnings continue to pop on and off across Southern Nevada.

The National Weather Service today issued the flash flood watch through 5 a.m. Friday for Clark County up to Lincoln County, and down to the California and Arizona borders.

Officials said very heavy rainfall could bring more than two inches of rain per hour, which could flood local washes and drainage areas.

The downpours could also turn into rapidly flowing water that can move mud and rocks onto the roads, creating driving hazards.

Flood warnings have hit the Las Vegas area on and off for the past week, though no substantial damages or losses have been reported.
