Pedestrian killed by truck; driver accused of leaving scene

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a pickup truck this morning, and the driver was arrested after leaving the scene of the accident, according to Metro Police.

Victor Rivera-Gonzalez, 36, was driving east on Sahara Avenue, near Burnham Avenue, about 5:30 a.m. when the pedestrian crossed in the path of the truck, police said.

The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release his name later.

Rivera-Gonzalez continued driving and left the scene, but he later returned with the vehicle, police said. He passed a field sobriety test before he was arrested on a count of leaving the scene of a wreck involving a death, police said.
