Homicide and gang-unit detectives were probing the shooting death of a man found behind a four-unit apartment building this afternoon in the northeast valley, Metro Police said.
Several people reported hearing gunshots between 9 and 10 a.m., but nobody called police until the man’s body was discovered about 1:15 p.m., Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said.
Officers found the body surrounded by shell casings in the 3200 block of Covey Lane, near Pecos Road and Cheyenne Avenue, McGrath said. Police found a gun next to the man, McGrath said.
No shooter or motive have been identified, McGrath said.
