A man is in custody for DUI death after crashing his vehicle into a motorcyclist and fleeing the scene in Henderson, according to police.

At about 9 p.m. Sunday, a 52-year-old man was driving a black 2002 Honda FSC motorcycle west on Warm Springs Road, approaching Eastgate Road, when he was struck from behind by a 2005 Cadillac CTS, Henderson Police said.

The driver of the Cadillac, 38-year-old Michael Stanley, was driving at a high rate of speed when he hit the motorcycle, forcing the rider into a guardrail, police said. The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.

Stanley drove westbound on Warm Springs about 800 feet away from the crash and then fled on foot, police said. He was arrested shortly after for DUI death and leaving the scene of an injury collision.

Speed and alcohol are considered to be the contributing factors in this collision, police said.

This is the 10th traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year
