House where 2 people died from fire burns again

A half hour after a woman died in a blaze Metro Police deemed a deadly arson last year, the house where it happened went up in flames a second time.

The death of Angelica Jimenez, 27, on Wednesday became the second blamed on the Nov. 26 blaze at 52 Sherrill Circle, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

After the fire was out last year, firefighters found 45-year-old Mario Jimenez’ body inside the one-story house.

According to police and fire officials:

After firefighters were called to the blaze in November, officers found a man walking down the street near the house, in the area of Charleston and Lamb boulevards. He had been stabbed but was able to escape the flames.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many people were in the house, but Metro Police said at least one person tied up some of the occupants before setting it ablaze.

Two people, including Angelica Jimenez, were taken to University Medical Center in critical condition. A neighbor, who rescued a child from the burning house, was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

On Wednesday, Las Vegas firefighters were called to the same boarded-up house at 10:54 p.m. The flames, which caused the roof to collapse, destroyed the house, causing $125,000 in damage.

Angelica Jimenez was declared dead at 10:22 p.m. She died from extensive burns, staff at the coroner’s office said.

The cause of Wednesday’s fire is under investigation, and witnesses told officials they had seen people coming in and out of the house since November.

No arrests have been announced in the arson case.
