1 of 2 men killed in central valley shooting ID’d

One of two men shot and killed after an altercation in the central valley Wednesday has been identified as Humberto Manuel Ocegueda-Ramos, 19, of Las Vegas.

Ocegueda-Ramos died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office. The second man, who also was shot in the head, has not been identified.

Both men were rushed to the University Medical Center after the shooting, which occurred about 2 p.m. at Washington Avenue and Mezpah Street, near Tonopah Drive. They passengers in a small SUV driven by a 19-year-old man who was not injured.

The driver told police that the group were in an altercation at a nearby convenience store and were chased by a person in a sedan described as light blue or green.

That driver fired rounds into the SUV and drove off, police said. Investigators don’t think anyone in the SUV returned fire. The men who were shot are not believed to have gang ties, police said.

No arrests have been announced.
