Suspects sought after taxi driver is pistol-whipped, robbed

Metro Police say they are searching for two men who hopped out of a cab without paying and then pistol-whipped and robbed the driver.

The cabbie picked up the men at a gas station on Tropicana Avenue and took them at about 2 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Cambridge Street, police said. The men got out without paying, and the driver confronted them, police said.

One of the men — the taller of the two — pulled out a gun and pistol-whipped the cabbie, police said.

The driver fought back, and the men robbed him of his wallet before running away, police said.

Metro released a video showing two suspects.

Both men appeared to be in their 20s. One is about 6 feet 4 inches tall and 160 pounds and the other is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and 150 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Metro at 702-828-8639, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at crimestoppersofnv.com. Tips leading directly to an arrest or indictment processed through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
