One dead, two displaced by Monday morning fire

One person was found dead following a fire Monday morning near West Spring Mountain Road and Buffalo Drive.

The Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded about 11:30 a.m. to the San Croix apartments, 8000 Spring Mountain Road, where personnel reported smoke and flames coming from a first-floor apartment in a two-story building in the complex, a news release from the Clark County Fire Department said.

A search crew discovered one adult deceased in the apartment. No further information about the deceased was immediately available.

The fire, a cause for which is unknown at this time, was extinguished within 15 minutes, according to the news release. Crews were able to contain the fire to the one apartment, although two adults were displaced as a result of the incident. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

No other injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
