Bishop Gorman High football coach Kenny Sanchez is facing a misdemeanor domestic battery count stemming from a Christmas Day incident and was arrested this week after failing to show up for a court date, according to court documents.

A criminal complaint in the case was filed Jan. 23, the same day the Las Vegas Justice Court sent Sanchez a summons to appear before a judge Feb. 21, court documents show.

Sanchez was arrested Tuesday on a warrant issued after he failed to appear for the February court date, records show. He has since bailed out of jail.

According to the criminal complaint, Sanchez, whose full name is Kenneth Richard Sanchez, 37, allegedly hit former girlfriend Brooke Stewart around the face, grabbed her neck and pulled her hair. The couple have a child together, the complaint notes.

Additional details were not immediately available.

Sanchez arrived at Gorman in 2009 as an assistant coach after his older brother, Tony, became the Gaels’ head coach. He was elevated to head coach after the 2014 season when his brother was hired as coach at UNLV.

Kenny Sanchez hasn’t lost a game in two seasons at the helm of the Gorman program, leading it to consecutive mythical national championships.
