A man who'd just gotten out of prison allegedly went with his girlfriend to the house of her other boyfriend. When they didn't find him, the man severely beat the missing man's grandmother, according to a Metro Police arrest report.

The elderly woman was struck repeatedly in the face, possibly with a metal bar, shortly before 7 p.m. April 9 and left unconscious, police said. She was at University Medical Center's intensive care unit for several days with fractures to her face, head trauma and eye injuries.

Investigators caught up to Isaac Almaguer, 37, and Jamie Michelle Olivas, 40, days later, police said. They were booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one count each of battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and burglary, according to Las Vegas Justice Court logs.

Almaguer had just been released from prison where he was sent for fraud and was upset that Olivas had apparently been dating another man while he was away, police said. He found out when he called her from prison and a man answered her phone.

So he went looking for him, confronting a man with a similar physical description at a bar, police said.

The day of the attack, the man's grandmother had told Almaguer and Olivas that her grandson wasn't there although he was in a back room, police said. The grandson told police that he escaped through a window when he heard the confrontation.

Olivas was arrested on April 10 and bailed out two days later with the condition that she check in with officials twice a week, logs show. Almaguer was taken into custody on April 11 and remained jailed without the possibility of bail as of Friday afternoon.
