Fire crews extinguish fire at Westgate

Updated Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 | 8:06 p.m.

A fire this evening at Westgate Las Vegas damaged a hotel room and prompted evacuation of two floors but resulted in no injuries, the Clark County Fire Department reported.

About 70 firefighters began responding about 6 p.m. to the property, 3000 Paradise Road, about reports of flames at two outdoor balconies that spread to a room, officials said. The fire activated the resort's sprinkler system and firefighters finished extinguishing the flames.

The third and fourth floors were affected and evacuated, officials said. "Fire department crews performed extensive salvage operations to minimize the amount of damage caused by fire, smoke, and water," read a release from the fire department.

The cause of fire remained under investigation.
