Faith Lutheran’s football game with St. Pius X this Friday in Houston has been canceled because of Tropical Storm Harvey.

“We had to cancel the game because they have so many things to work through,” Faith Lutheran coach Vernon Fox said. “I don’t even know what the rest of their season is looking like at this point.”

The Crusaders hosted St. Pius X last season, losing 42-10, and the rematch was scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday.

Fox said the Crusaders are looking to make the game up sometime in the season, whether it’s against a local team or another team in Texas.

“I’ve been communicating with (St. Pius X’s) coach since last week, and they haven’t been able to go to school or practice,” Fox said. “The coach is stuck in his house right now.”

Houston has been ravaged by the storm, with floods resulting in at least six deaths and forcing 30,000 people from their homes, according to The Washington Post.

“It’s hard to focus on the misfortune of missing a football game when people have lost so much,” Fox said. “Our prayers are out to that administration, staff, school and everyone that is affected by this.”
