Retirement Board to appeal ruling over releasing names

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Public Employees Retirement Board has decided to appeal a ruling that it must release the names of its more than 57,000 pensioners.

Board Chairman Mark Vincent said the board on Tuesday unanimously voted to ask the Nevada Supreme Court for a clear definition of what it is required to release.

District Court Judge James Wilson ruled earlier this month the system must provide the information to the Nevada Policy Research Institute, which sought the data to determine the value of the system and if there was fraud.

The Public Employees’ Retirement System covers state and local government workers.
