Passenger jets are shown at the D Gates at McCarran International Airport Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

A mass shooting today that closed the airport in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., hasn’t had a major impact on operations in Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport spokesman Chris Jones said.

There was only one flight from Las Vegas slated to land this afternoon at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport. Six flights from Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas were scheduled for later today. The status of those flights was unclear.

At least one arrival was canceled.

Passengers traveling to and from Fort Lauderdale should be aware that it won’t be “business as usual,” Jones said.

Earlier today, a lone gunman opened fire at the Florida airport, killing five people and wounding eight others before he was taken into custody, authorities said.

It wasn’t clear when operations at the Fort Lauderdale airport would resume.

Metro Police were monitoring the Fort Lauderdale incident but haven’t implemented any changes, Officer Michael Rodriguez said.

Jones said there is already extra security at the airport this week to assist with crowds from the annual CES gadget show in Las Vegas.
