Henderson man arrested in death of baby daughter

A 21-year-old man is accused of killing his 6-month-old daughter after she died from injuries detectives allege he caused, according to Henderson police.

Anthony Martzen was arrested Thursday morning on one count each of murder and child abuse with substantial bodily harm, police said. Both are felonies.

Officers and medics were first dispatched about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 to the 200 block of East Merlayne Drive, near Boulder Highway and Sunset Road, police said. There they found the baby, who was not breathing.

She was rushed to St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Rose de Lima Campus, and then University Medical Center where she died two days later, police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear how the baby was injured or how detectives determined Martzen became the suspect in her death.

Further details were not immediately available.
