Suspect arrested in 2016 North Las Vegas slaying

North Las Vegas Police today announced the arrest of a suspect in the shooting death of a man more than a year ago.

Raul Lara, 34, is suspected in the April 15, 2016, slaying of a 35-year-old man in the 2100 block of Carroll Street, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Civic Center Drive, police said.

Officers and medics were dispatched about 11:15 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. He died at University Medical Center.

An arrest warrant for Lara was filed on Sept. 29 and he was arrested the next day in a residential neighborhood near Clayton Street and Ann Road, police said.

Lara was being held at the Clark County Detention Center on one count each of conspiracy to commit murder, murder and being a prohibited person in possession of a gun, police said. He also faces two counts of attempted murder, police said.
