Rivalries galore

Hammer, bell, bowl, bulls, roses and more. Ray Brewer and Case Keefer discus the numerous rivalry games taking place across the valley in this week's slate of high school football games.

Sagan Gronauer passed for four touchdowns tonight to help the Faith Lutheran High football team defeat Shadow Ridge 43-8 for its fourth straight win.

Both teams entered with one loss in league play and the game was expected to be closely contested. But Faith Lutheran scored 36 unanswered points to open the game and never looked back.

“It’s probably the most complete game we have played this season,” Faith Lutheran coach Vernon Fox said. “Nobody gave us a forecast to win the game or put up the amount of points we did. I’m proud of our guys for going out and executing.”

Saundre Spiller and Pierce Ellington had rushing touchdowns for the Crusaders (4-3 overall, 4-1 Northwest League). Peyton Thornton had more than 100 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Briggs Garrison and Michael Peck also had receiving touchdowns.

Defensively, John Thomson and Keagan Touchstone had interceptions.
