Ray Brewer and Case Keefer recap all the action from rivalry week, and spend extra time looking ahead to a few of the evenly-matched games in week 9.

Jay Kakiva had a defensive touchdown tonight for the Green Valley High football team when he recovered a fumble in the endzone to help the Gators down visiting Coronado 24-7.

“Our defense played really well,” Green Valley coach Brian Castro said. “The first drive, they moved the ball a little on us. But our guys settled in and stopped them.”

Julian Hulse rushed for a Green Valley touchdown and Braxton Harms had a receiving score.

Green Valley, which improves to 8-1 overall, plays at Foothill next week for the No. 2 playoff seed from the Southeast. Foothill also has an 8-1 record.

“It will come down to who wants it more,” Castro said.
