A student at Green Valley High School in Henderson was arrested with a loaded handgun this morning, the first day of classes after summer break, according to Clark County School District Police.
School staff noticed the student was acting out of sorts, Capt. Ken Young said. He was pulled aside, and school police recovered a 9 mm handgun, Young said.
The student was taken into custody and booked on a count of possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, Young said.
It wasn’t immediately known why the student had the gun, and classes were not interrupted by the incident Young said.
