Police: Hit-and-run driver dies after causing third crash in a day

A motorist involved in a pair of hit-and-run crashes Thursday afternoon in the south valley went on to cause a third crash, suffering fatal injuries, according to Metro Police.

The unidentified driver, who was in a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, died at the scene, police said. That person was not believed to had been impaired.

The fatal crash occurred about 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of West Oquendo Road and Valley View Boulevard, police said.

The minivan ran a stop sign and was hit on its left side by a Nissan Rogue, police said.

Witnesses at the scene told officers that the Chrysler had been involved in two hit-and-run crashes shortly before crashing the third time, police said.

The two occupants of the Nissan were taken to University Medical Center after complaining of injuries, police said.
