Rayvion Brown scored two long touchdowns for Cheyenne as the Desert Shields took down Boulder City 24-7 Friday night.

Brown opened the scoring by catching a 41-yard touchdown pass from Joshua Rose in the first quarter. Boulder City’s defense hung tough, and the Eagles trailed only 12-7 at the half.

“They have a good defense and their linebackers play real well,” Cheyenne coach Patrick Ward said. “They’re well coached and they worked hard.”

Cheyenne pulled away in the second half, starting with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Brown on the opening kick. Running back Majae Madison added a touchdown run later in the quarter and Cheyenne’s defense held strong to earn the victory.

“Our defense played really well at times,” Ward said. “Overall we did what we needed to do to win, but we’ve got to clean up.”

The Desert Shields improved to 2-0 on the season and will look to stay undefeated as they host the Rancho Rams next Friday.
