Reno man sentenced to 7 years on receipt of child pornography count

A Reno man who downloaded child pornography and allegedly sought to babysit young girls will serve seven years in federal prison, according to the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Aaron M. Quackenbush, 27, in September pleaded guilty to the receipt of child pornography, according to officials and court documents. He was sentenced on Tuesday.

The investigation into Qackenbush started this spring after authorities discovered illicit files were being downloaded from two IP addresses associated with his home, officials said.

In an interview with investigators, Quackenbush admitted to downloading similar materials for 12 years, officials said.

When authorities recovered his Twitter account, which had been deleted, they found conversations in which Quackenbush spoke about pornographic images of children and his “desire to babysit young girls,” officials said.

Ultimately, 5,710 illicit files were found on his electronic devices, officials said.

He was indicted April 11 and arrested five days later, according to court logs.

After he is released from prison, Quackenbush will have to register as a sex offender and face a lifetime of supervision, officials said.

The FBI and Washoe County authorities investigated the case.
