A woman suffered severe injuries Tuesday when a police cruiser pursuing a stolen vehicle hit the car she was driving, according to Metro Police.
The 46-year-old woman, who had to be extricated from her car by firefighters, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in serious condition, police said. A 41-year-old man and a 3-year-old girl in the car were not hurt, police said.
The crash happened about 4 p.m. at Swenson Street and Sierra Vista Drive, police said.
The woman was eastbound on Sierra Vista, approaching a green light, when she was hit by a marked Metro SUV that was south on Swenson, approaching a red light, police said.
The unidentified officer, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, was pursuing a robbery suspect in a stolen vehicle, police said.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
