2 Reno businesses caught serving alcohol to minors

RENO — Authorities say two Reno businesses were caught serving alcohol to minors during St. Patrick's Day festivities in the downtown.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the Regional Street Enforcement Team conducted an underage alcohol compliance check during the Leprechaun Crawl on Saturday.

During the operation, four volunteers between 18 to 20 years old went to 25 businesses in the area to see if staff would ask for their state-issued identification and check that they were of drinking age.

Authorities say only the Thai Corner Cafe and The Jungle failed and served alcohol to the underage volunteers.

The Regional Street Enforcement is made up of detectives from the Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and University of Nevada Police Department.

It is partnered with Join Together Northern Nevada, a nonprofit community organization.
