An administrator at a five-campus college district in Texas has been picked as the next president of the College of Southern Nevada.

Federico Zaragoza said in a statement Friday by CSN that he wants to develop greatness and prestige at Nevada's largest community college. He is due to start Aug. 15

Zaragoza has been vice chancellor for economic and workforce development at the Alamo Colleges District in since 2004.

The Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents unanimously approved Zaragosa's selection based on recommendations from search committees, faculty, students and community members.

CSN has more than 44,000 students at three campuses and seven satellite learning centers.

Zaragoza replaces Michael Richards, who retired in January after 10 years as CSN president.
