Updated Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018 | 6:04 a.m.

A single bullet fatally struck a man and critically injured another Saturday night in a south valley apartment, according to Metro Police.

Early in the probe, detectives were trying to determine if the shooting was “accidental or intentional,” said Metro Lt. Ray Spencer in an online briefing.

Gunfire erupted about 9:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of Wigwam Avenue, just east of Las Vegas Boulevard, Lt. Jason Johansson said.

A birthday party was taking place in an apartment when several people went into a bedroom, Spencer said early Sunday.

It wasn’t clear what transpired next, but a gun went off and its bullet fatally wounded a man in the head, Spencer said. That same round subsequently traveled and also hit another man in the head.

The second person struck, a man in his mid 20s, was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition, Spencer said.

Investigators early Sunday were trying to determine exactly what happened, Spencer said. The man killed was described as being in his early 20s.

Further details were not immediately available.
