The Virgin Valley High football team won another close game on Friday night, grinding out a 20-19 victory against host Spring Valley to improve to 7-1 on the season.
Virgin Valley in the initial three weeks of the season won three games by a combined 16 points.
Wyatt Delano’s 8-yard scoring run on a third-down play with about a minute to play were the winning points for Virgin Valley.
“Of course, we’d like to blow teams out. But that’s not us,” Virgin Valley coach Matt Woods said. “We have to do our thing. We have to grind it out. Our kids keep fighting. They keep their composure.”
Delano “ran hard” for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Hampsten had a touchdown reception for Virgin Valley’s other points.
