A motorcyclist was killed late Thursday morning when he crashed into a car that turned in front of him on an east valley roadway, according to Metro Police.

The rider, a 43-year-old Las Vegas man on a 2013 Kawasaki 300, died at University Medical Center, police said.

Officers responded shortly before noon to the 300 block of Nellis Boulevard, north of Stewart Avenue, Officer Larry Hadfield said.

The driver of a 2013 Dodge Dart, which was heading south, turned left without yielding the right of way to the motorcyclist, who was heading north and crashed into the car, police said.

The car’s passenger was hospitalized with injuries not deemed life-threatening, police said. The driver suffered minor injuries.

Police reminded drivers to take a second to lookout for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other vehicles. “If you take a second for each look, you have delayed yourself four seconds ... and saved a life,” Metro’s traffic unit wrote on social media.

This was the 112th traffic fatality investigated in Metro patrolled roadways.
