Woman gets 10 years for threatening to shoot victim amid encounter

A felon not authorized to own a handgun will serve 10 years in federal prison for threatening to shoot a woman in a central Las Vegas confrontation a year ago, according to the office of the U.S. attorney for the district of Nevada.

Jacqueline Moore, 38, who was convicted in July for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, also will have to be supervised for three years after her release, officials said. She was sentenced Wednesday.

During the Oct. 27, 2017, altercation, which initiated during a barbecue at B and Monroe streets, Moore also broke the victim’s car window and taillight, officials said.

The violence escalated at the parking lot of a nearby recreation center, where the victim was followed by Moore, officials said. That’s where Moore also threatened to shoot the woman.

A witness called 911 and Moore was taken into custody by officers, who found a .25 caliber pistol and one bullet in her purse and vehicle, officials said.

Moore’s July trial lasted three days, officials said. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Metro Police, officials said.

Moore was previously convicted in Clark County for felony assault with a deadly weapon and attempted battery with substantial bodily harm, which prohibited her from carrying a gun, officials said.
