Sakai Kayin, 16, on Thursday was taken into custody in a northwest valley neighborhood by a task force that comprises the FBI and local police. Further details on his arrest or the investigation were not immediately available.

French, whom authorities certified as an adult, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder and possession of a dangerous weapon on campus, police said. French is a junior at Cheyenne High School, according to a Clark County School District spokesman.

Further details on his arrest or the investigation were not immediately available.

Police on Sept. 11 responded to the school, 350 E. Alexander Road, to what were initially reports of an active shooter, and found a gravely wounded Dalvin Brown, an 18-year-old Canyon Springs student.

Brown was shot in the outer perimeters of the baseball fields, and died at University Medical Center, police said. Officials had said the shooting stemmed from some sort of altercation, and that it wasn't believed to be a random.

The school, which classes had been let out for the day, was placed on lockdown for the students and staff who remained there.
